August 5th
I can finnaly lift up the head and see the gasket, which is in almost perfect condition. This is not nessasarily a good thing because it mens that the problem is in either the piston, the valves or the metal itself. To test the piston, I put some oil in the cylender and left it for about 6 hours. The idea is that if the level of the oil goes down, the piston ring is probably not flush with the cylender, which would explain the problem. I stays at exactly the same level. Another possible issue would be with the valves. this seems very unlikely because the valves themselves seem to be in perfect condition and there is no difference between them and the ones on the right side, which definently hold thier compression. I feel preety good about detatching the head, but I am not looking forward to detatching the other one as a replacement.
